Valerie Henry

Valerie Henry has been passionate about theatre since she was first introduced to the stage by her great aunt (who toured with JCW's) when she was five years old. She sang since she first opened her mouth and her first serious foray into theatre was aged 16 in musical theatre in Sydney under musical direction of John Eyles and acting direction of Leo Boscher. She trained in singing while continuing with community theatre playing many major roles as well as back row of the chorus from that date onwards.

Wherever she travelled to live within Australia she joined or formed a theatre company. While musical theatre was her first love, professional and community theatre has also been a great hobby she has pursued with a high degree of success. She was nominated for best actress in Robert Finley award for her role in the Australian play 'Navigating'.

Valerie's diversity of ability to play a variety of roles is her greatest achievement. She has performed Irene Molloy (Hello Dolly), Miss Hannigan (Annie), the mother (The Boys), the Wicked Stepmother (Snow White), Mum (The One Day of the Year) to name but a few.

Valerie has had more returns to the stage than Nellie Melba. Her most memorable was to work with John Senzcuk on Les Mis (Regal Theatre) and Sugar Mother (Metcalfe Theatre).

With over 50 years of experience in stage, screen and television, Valerie has never considered herself a star. She merely possesses a passion for theatre and the arts.
